Simone Lee (b.2002) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Melbourne (Naarm) working across photography, film, sculpture and installation. Their practice explores the poetics of the mundane, space and relation, utilising earthly imagery and found materials to create works that reveal bodies of home. Taking a meditative and experimental approach to art making, Lee is interested in the abstraction of form and texture as a visual language for impermanence. Their work seeks to create gestures of intimacy and experiences underscored by duration, familiarity and presence, or lack thereof.

When one body decays, another one grows

Simone completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Photography) at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2024 and was a finalist for the Majilis Travelling Fellowship. Their work has been exhibited in galleries and artist-run spaces, and has also featured in publications and music-related projects. In 2025 they will undertake an artist residency in the countryside of Yamanashi, Japan.
